Thumbs up New Guy With 2001 Lariat LE

My name is Rick, I have a 2001 Lariat LE 4X4 DRW w/7.3 psd. This is my second PSD and my first 4 x 4. My last truck was hit by a Semi on the interstate. It damaged the truck bed only. No frame or suspension damage. I could not convince the insurance company not to total, so I took their money and bought me another one. My last truck had 4" duals, k&N, Throttle Body spacer and was 2WD dually. It gave me 18 and 19.5 mpg after the mods. I want to mod my current truck with ram air hood, 5" duals, Ball Bearing Turbo, GearVenders gear reduction and change all fluids to Royal purple. I changed the crankcase out last month and moved my MPG to +4.3 MPG. I like the way the LE looks but I could take or leave the 4wd.

It's good to be here, I hope to share what I have learned from my PSD experience and learn from others here. -

I like the LE too. I was originally looking for a truck with just bucket seats after my 99 F350 CC DRW got hit by a semi. My daughter was in teh back seat and only got a mild bump on the head - not enough to even give a headache. But that was enough for me to want something with head cushion at least.

I like my truck, it's currently getting about 18 MPG combined mileage in stock form. I am running royal purple motor oil and that did give me a mile or two. I am thinking about adding some items but woudl like to get opinions on them.

1. Gear Vendors Gear reduction unit.
2. 4" or 5" exhaust - which does better for around town driving with occasional hauling.
3. RAM Air Hood.
4. PASS system
5. Extra capacity trans pan with aux cooler w/fan.
6. Extra capacity diff covers.
7. Change differential fluid with Royal purple.

I look forward to being an active member of this board. Hope my experiences can help and hope to gain from the experiences on this board.
