Default Allison Tranny,,NBSU or no???

My 2001 Duramax Dually When taking off,,, from a stand still,,,under a load,,, during acceleration feels like someone has put it in neutral then slammed it into gear jerking the hell out of everything!!! It has only happened a few times but I'm afraid it will tear something up if it continues. Is there and adjustment between the column mounted shift lever to the NBSU that under a load may be pulling the NBSU into neutral then back to drive as the engine torque's up or is this a tell tail sign of the NBSU going out and I can 't find anyone else with this same claim?? I know it is only $100 but it would be better of spent on motor mount if that be the case!! Anyone out there seen this????

Is this right after you come to a stop?

It does something different when I come to a stop, sort of similar BUT if you brake torque the truck it feels like it has been pulled into neutral when I push down on the accelerator, then as it revs and gets up there in RPM's it's like someone slips it into gear!! When I am driving it and come to a stop sign, it feels like it has to catch up before it will engage back into gear. I am no mechanical idiot, but this is an expensive tranny and don't want to be left on the side of the road the next time it does it with my drag car on the trailer a 1000 miles away from home!!!

Hmm, when was the last time the inside filter was changed.

Sometimes they can also get loose and upon accel and decel the filter can rock around sucking in air loosing time. Rare but it happens

Don't know that it has. I bought it at 90,000 miles. Will do the filter change this weekend. Anything else to look for while I 'm in there? Or somthing I can change from the bottom to make the tranny better. By the way,, great write up on the injector change. I was going to do it , blindely, untill I found your post, and pictures!!! Thanks.

Well if you are going to change both filters get them at an Alison dealer, dealer will tear you a new one. And it will need 11 quarts iirc
