Default what D-max to choose

I been lookin at D-max and im finding a lot of 05-06s that are in my price range.the 06(lbz) are about $2,000 more.are they that much better than the 05 (lly)?i know they put out more HP and has the 6spd ali.I herd llys had over heating issues as well.i mite be able to get a good deal on the 05 and im woundering if i should hold out for a LBZ?

you cant go wrong with either or really. 04.5-05 lly had overheating issues, just a simple fix of a larger turbo MP fixes that. the 06 lly is the same as the lbz just detuned to a lly and doesnt have over heating issues. the 04.5-05 had 5spd transmissions the 06 and up had 6spds.

i hope that helps you out

If your asking between the 2 05-06..HP is not really an issue you can crank that up but I would try an grab a 06 with the six speed ally or even a 07. But like stated above there all good

I was originally looking for a '06 D-Max. Little bit higher HP, and the 6-speed with the Trip-Tronic transmission control. That was the bigger selling feature for me. I didn't want to go newer because, in my mind, they went to a very ugly body style and reduced ground clearance.

Yep, the LBZ/6-speed Ally is worth the extra $$. You won't have the overheating problems of the LLY ($100 mouthpiece won't fix it ), the extra power of the LBZ is nice, the 6-speed is nicer than the 5-speed.

There are many different up dates and refinements to the LBZ's than all the previous years and all the bugs were worked out, too.

if its a 06 LLY it wont over heat. 06 LLYs are LBZ motors just detuned so they already have the up graded components that a LBZ has

an 05 LLY will have the same issues no matter what transmission is behind it, its a problem with the engine that they remedied with the 06's

i have had good luck with my 06, up until now, i blew a head gasket, but i am running a tune, and thats part of the risk of playing, things will break, so i cant blame the truck, it runs awesome, and pulls like a raped ape
