Chevy/GMC Duramax 07.5 & UP LMM Discussion of Chevy and GMC Trucks with LMM Duramax Turbo Diesel Engines

Does anyone know the best set up to gain more mileage on this truck? It is lifted with 35s x 20 and AFE Intake. A local performance store advised of changing gear ratio to 4.56 and adding a Superchips. What do ya'll think? ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- ... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

yes gears would help with the milage, stock the truck comes with 3.73 gears.

most of the tuners will add mpg gains.

With the 4.56 gears in 6th gear you will be doing 75mph at 2000rpm.

I used the Calulator on the site to figue that out.

http://www.dieselbombers.com/calculators.php

and the alison gear ratios.

Reverse-- 4.49
1st gear-- 3.10
2nd gear-- 1.81
3rd gear-- 1.41
4th gear-- 1.00
5th gear-- 0.71
6th gear-- 0.61 (available on 06 and up Allison) -

What kind of mileage are you trying to get?

I am getting about 17.5 on the highway with 35's and an 8" lift. I get about 15 if I only drive in the city. -

Do a DPF delete typical gains are 3-4 mpg. I have seen 4 mpg increase on mine and other first hand. With the larger tires and wheels you mileage increase would be closer to 3.

Let me know if I can help with any questions.
