Default mpg on the 07 4x4?

I'm looking to buy a 07 4x4 duramax. This is the early version and I believe it has the LBZ motor. I have a dodge right now with 19mpg. I'm just wondering if I can get the same better or worse.

Thanks

With my listed mods.. if Im not pulling my camper, I average 18.9 mpg.. and I have a very VERY heavy right foot.. thats all 90+mph interstate mpg readings.

Do most of them get in the range of 18 to 20 mpg. Would that be safe to say. I'm only asking because I was looking at one at the dealer and it showed 13.2. I assume that is just test ride mpg. Does the computer have the function of resetting for mpg.

Is the Duramax a better truck than Dodge or Ford?

the question between which is a better truck is a huge debate but what it all boils down to is what do you plan on using your truck for? Do you want to tow a lot of weight, just go 4 wheeling with it, or just a nice daily driver?

Chevy's offer IFS (independent front suspension) which is a very smooth ride ok for modest 4 wheeling nothing to hardcore, but with a few upgrades to it you will be good to go. Also the stock turbo is good to 500 hp. Plus the other thing they have is the ability to be tuned by software called EFI Live which is the ultimate tuning software.

Fords are a whole different story if your going to get one buy one with a 7.3 in it because the 6.0 motor is good but very problematic

The Dodge has many offerings like solid axle and the legendary cummins which is like the Chevy 350 of the diesel world because there is a huge aftermarket for that motor. From what ive seen between the dodge and chevy in stock form the dodge gets slightly better mpg. But like oilfield said great mpg is very achievable.

Hope this helps

I know a guy who gets 12mpg no matter what he does in his duramax, and i know some that get 20+ it depends on how you use it and what not, the new duramax's have the 6 speed allison auto so that should help achieve better mileage, but the best mileage i've seen on any diesel is a VP44 injected 24v cummins with the 6 speed manual, i believe it' s most generally the NV5600 transmission, so if you're after mileage that's what i'd get

So what is the Duramax supposed to get on mpg? I have a dodge right now but am thinking about selling it for a Duramax. I have not heard that the duramax gets decent mileage. What is up with the 12mpg. I just drove a truck that got 13.4 or that is what is showing. Is there a reset on it? How long do you have to drive it in order for it to change?

I just bought an 07 Chev with the LBZ and love it! It gets the same MPG as my 03 CTD 6 spd did and is way more comfortable. The dodge was chipped, exhaust, intake and clutch while the duramax has only an exhaust right now so the MPG will improve after a few mods. Stay away from the 05 Duramax though, the LLY runs hotter and gets shitty gas mileage. Definitly recommend either the LB7 or LBZ motors. The 6speed Allison rocks too my left leg is thanking me. Just my .02.
