i just bought this 2005 2500 HD duramax (gmc) and im trying to find the best chip for a decent price... ive never had a diesel truck before so im totally new at this. Im looking for horsepower but still fuel ecomony. and some smoke.

 

there are no "chip" power adders for the Duramax

There are many options, but the one most guys will point you at will be the PPE xcellerator economy if you don't want a huge increase in hp, I think the Economy will give you 160hp extra at the flywheel, which will put you at about 400rwhp, which is a pretty significant boost in power for a stock allison to handle

 

What if I wanted to go with a a lot of hp??

 

EFI live or PPE hot +2

but to use them to their highest potential you need a lot of extra parts

lift pump, turbo or compounds, twin cp3's, head studs, and probably connecting rods and pistons as well and a bulletproof transmission

 

So the first one.... PPE xcellerator economy would b best??

 

Look at Power Up Diesel wesite. He claims that he will recalibrate your ecm and guarantee 4-7 mpg. Worth looking into.The unit is called the Duramizer.

 

does the duramizer..... does it add any hp?

 

I added a Superchip to my truck. Got hp and mpg. That was in 05 when new. I met a guy and he told me about the website.I emailed him. His name is Steve Shelly. i am sure that his product will give hp also. Power up diesel. Check it out and let me know what you think.
The price is around 600 bucks maybe.Certainly worth the trouble to look into.

I would change the exhaust ,air intake,change the mouthpiece, and do the pcv reroute egr delete. I would talk to Steve about all this. From what I have read these will make a tremondous change. I don't think all this will have any effect to your trans. You only want to go so far without having trans problems. Explain to Steve what you want from your LLY and he can surely direct you. You are at the correct website you have posted.
