Default uncommon problem with FICM

Hi all,
Completely new to diesel motor work. But I am a decent shadetree at times. I just replaced the injectors on my brother-in-laws 03 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. And it went well until it started making oil. I am in the process of fixing that problem and have learn alot in the process.
My problem is that the last time I removed the FICM, the plastic vent plug on it snapped off and I don't want to pay x amount of dollars for a new FICM because of a 50 cent piece of plastic. I have talked with every deisel shop around here, including dealerships, and no one has ever run into this problem before. So I'm hoping that maybe you guys can help me out. I believe I can make something to function as a vent, but would like to hear some more qualified people's opinion on the subject. The FICM is in working order. I just need to know if anyone has had this problem and how they fixed it. Or if it is even a problem at all.
Thanks for listening/reading

206 views and not one response. Maybe I am the only person in the world that this has happened too.
I'm just looking for some thoughts on this subject from some respectable mechanics. Don't care if it's happened to you or not. Just need some opinions. Thanks

I believe that it is just a pressure vent. I'm certain that if you just devise a cover to keep moisture out and rock on you should be good.

no I recently found mine is missing the rubber plug as well and I capped it off after assuming that was why my truck was acting different and now I have a weird ticking noise
