Doubt it. It's done this the whole time I've owned the truck. Plus my rail pressure is consistently low at anything over half throttle. Other than that it's fine

CP3 is weak, or your fuel pump is not pushing fuel to CP3

No the cp3 builds the pressure. Confirmed that by unplugging the regulator. And the cp3 is the only pump on the duramax engine aside from the transfer pump on the back of the injection pump.

I'm thinking I've got a fuel line that is sucking itself shut under engine lugdown. I'm gonna replace a few suspect hoses and see what happens

How much pressure can it generate at idle? Using the efi live scan tool you can command 23k and see it it hold that at idle.

"Some Pressure", may not be enough pressure to keep it running

I'll have to check this following week for pressure it can hold at idle . It holds factory commanded pressure at idle (in between 5-6k) and sitting there and winding it to 3k rpms the desired pressure follows commanded.

Also on a side note, I'd like to run something through the system to lubricate the injectors. I've heard people say 2 stroke oil or transmission fluid. But everywhere I look people get off topic and don't give a clear answer. Start talking about filters this that and the other.

What would work well in an LB7 duramax?

ive ran 2 stroke oil and it did seem to quiet the injector clatter at idle. you dont need much. i think diesel stinker has some researched info on 2 stroke ratios somewhere on this site

YES, Smokeless and or non-synthetic 2 stroke ..... I do run ATF in everything from mercedes to S60's ... use as you see fit ... just not if you have a DPF or catalist , it can and possibly will foul out your cat ...

Okay thanks guys I'll look more into it. I don't have to worry about the cat, just put on a 5" MBRP straight pipe. :P
