Default Engine oil pan?
I have black plastic or epoxy on the bottom of the oil pan. Is that normal, or did I just find why my pickup was so cheap?

There is also a water leak on the front of the engine, drivers side. Tried to trace it, not sure where it starts. About halfway up the front of the motor I think. Water pump?

The leak sounds like it is most likely water pump
Hotforteacher's Sig:2002 Crew Cab Short bed 4x4 LB7. Air box mod. Air horn mod. EFI live with DP5. 4" MBRP no muffler with 5" tip. Glow shift EGT and Boost guages. Leveling kit. 285's. Just a low budget build to tow my trailers and have some fun at the same time.

I don't know if the black stuff is hiding something or not, but...I've seen black paint not coating on the bottom of the pan...I'm guessin that you shouldn't pull it off..LOL
