Default What fits ?

I'm sure this question has been answered several times and been beaten to death but I've searched long and hard and came up short !

I have a 2000 crew cab dually with a 6.5 and a 5spd. The po attempted some engine work and thought he needed an entire tube of orange silicone so needless to say, the brand new crank didn't get oil because the oil pickup screen was clogged with the silicone. My question is, will an earlier block work in my 2000 ? I found one 93 engine and one 94 short block. I realize the difference is in the castings, compression ratio, and one has manual injection and mine has electronic injection. I know the early block will bolt up, I just don't know if my heads (mine are reman low mile heads) will bolt up, and if the crank is the same due to having a crank sensor on the newer timing cover. I can't see the front of the replacement engine because it was hit hard in the nose. Any and all help is appreciated.
