Default Running Rough

I just bought my 1994 chevy 2500 with a 6.5L turbo diesel about a month ago and now when i step on the gas hard it stalls out...when i do get it running again it sputters for about a min. then runs ok for about 5 min. and then starts to sputter again... I am new to diesel's. I changed the fuel element today but it still ran the same way...when i first picked it up it ran beautiful...thinking that my turbo may not be working...any advice will be greatly appreciated.. thanks

You are not getting fuel to the engine. My guess would be your lift pump isn't working. If the truck is a auto with the engine off put the truck in drive and turn the key forward like you are trying to start if listen if you hear a rattling under the truck it is working but may not be pumping any thing open the bleeder on top of the fuel filter and see if fuel comes out while you cycle the pump if not its probably a bad pump if so it may not be pumping while its running. If you don't hear anything the pump is not running. It's on the diver side frame rail right about under the driver door. It looks like a stander fuel filter with two wires going in it make sure it's getting power to it and if so change the pump it should work hopefully then.
