Default my 6.5 turbo diesel just shuts off!!

i am not a mechanic, i replaced injector pump on my 6.5 turbo diesel about 15k ago. mechanic did it. with black box piece too. all newly rebuilt, runs great but at least 2 times a day now it will just turn off as it is running, does not matter if parked or on highway doing 70 mph it just turns off and i have to turn off wait for glo light and it almost always takes only one turn and i am back on my way. but this is not good on highway or when i make a turn. any advise what to do, thanks mark in connecticut.

sounds like your pmd is going which is that little black box you were describing. needs to be relocated out of engine compartment because it will eventually die if you put it back on injection pump.do you have any codes

Default CHEVY 6.5 TURBO JUST SHUTS OFF

NO CODES CHECKED AT ADVANCED AUTO. JUST DIES OUT ABOUT 5 TIMES A DAY. I ORDERED AN EXTENSION 6 FOOT TO HOOK ON BUMPER. WILL THIS WORK?

it could just be your shut off solinoid, which is by the trottle bracket on a 6.5, not sure but just throwing something out there

it is definetly a possiblitie but usually if your shut off soleniod is bad it will not get out of the driveway. as soon as it starts it will shut off

yeah if the pmd(blak box) is indeed causing you problems its damaged already. the pmd is damaged by heat. not much heat is generated inside the bumper so it lasts a lot longer

I have the same problem that you have. I put on a new P.M.D and heatsink in the bumper. Mine might go for weeks without a problem, and then it might shut off a couple times in one day, but it fires right back up.
