Okay so I was out offroading with my friend, nothin major just climbing hills on dirt roads and such, when i got back out on pavement my tranny started to knock, litterally, so i parked it, and hopped in with my buddy and got his trailer, we got it home, changed out the fluid, it was bright red, and replaced it and drove it home, about 5 miles away it started dropping in and out of gear, then dropped out and wouldnt go back in.
Im just planning on getting a new transmission, and i would almost bet that I over heated it, but if i could not pay for a new trans and just get this one serviced i would rather do that, anyone know of any possible points i should look at first? |

If it overheated, the fluid would not be bright red.
Were there metal flecks in the fluid? My Dad had a 700R4 die on him and we pulled the pan off and metal shavings were everywhere. The planetary gears were all chewed up. And that one wasn't shifting right before it quit either. |
