Hi guys, new to the forum and in desperate need of some help,
I have a 97 Chevy 3500hd dump truck and have constant stalling issues almost down to the mile on when it will stall.
The truck will drive fine and not show any signs of loss in power and then suddenly stall with a complete loss of power. I checked to see if I was getting fuel to the filter and it was dry so I opened bleeder and crank it until I get fuel up to the filter close the bleeder valve and it will start up then die in the exact amount of time and distance driven all over again, I had to repeat this process 5 times to make it to my lot a few miles away.
I have since changed both lift pumps, shut down the rear fuel tank, (in assumption it might be faulty and sucking air) changed out the sending unit inside primary tank, changed the fuel filter, changed harness and pmd as well as repositioned it in a cooler place, went through all fuel lines for leaks and dropped and thoroughly cleaned fuel tank.
The truck will idle for about an hour and a half before it stalls out but only drive 5 min or so before stalling.
From this point I'm at a loss as to what this could be or what the next course of action is, any help is GREATLY appreciated , thanks

 

Sounds like either you got a clogged fuel sock (or one for gas engines), or maybe an air leak in your fuel line somewhere. Take the fuel sock off completely and try that remedy.

Could be faulty ignition switch.

 

Thanks for the reply, I did change some lines that were dry rotted around the fuel filter under the manifold as well as put in a new sending unit with the clean fuel sock, the problems were still persisting after that. I just today replaced the crank shaft position sensor and relearned the timing for the pcm as well as erased the trouble codes, the truck ran great acceleration was just as it used to be no hesitations or stalling then about 25 min in she stalled and the error code (injection pump timing offset came up again) as well as (injection pump fuel metering control) could this be a definite ip problem or another sensor or electrical issue causing it to have issues ?

 

Is the FSD still mounted on the side of the IP ?
