Default Swapping engine harness on the 96 Suburban

I have a harness that is in a little better condition than the harness on the 1996 Suburban.

I was going to swap.

This harness has an extra single wire on the firewall end. With the orange plug. I think I have been here before and I do not need to use that wire. Is that correct?

What is that wire for on the vehicle this harness was made for?

Also the wire with the purple seal is much shorter on this harness than on the 96 harness. Does anybody know off the top of their head if that will cause me an issue?

How do you change the plug that goes to the filter harness. The clip is broke off on the 1996 Harness.

I am eliminating the filter harness and plugging into the IP
