Default Gasoline in a 6.5

First off I should explain myself a bit. I am normally a Ford guy. I have done a lot of work on 7.3s and 6.0s but living where I do diesel repair is few and far between. So the local body shop asked me to take a look at their tow truck. To the best of my knowledge its a 96 3500 6.5 turbo diesel 5 speed. It would idle fine but once it came up to temp it would just start chugging and blowing white/blue smoke.

Skip ahead to getting it to my garage and starting the diagnosis. Someone did a home made PMD relocation. The wiring was rough but it all checked out. So out of curiosity I cracked the drain on the IP. What came out could be considered highly varnished gas. The fuel filter had cleaner looking fuel but the same smell.

What I am looking for is anyones idea on what all would be damaged on that engine from running gas. I know the fuel filter is trashed but thats a nothing. Would the IP or LP be damaged? How do the injectors put up with gasoline?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IP would certainly be lacking lube from the fuel.
