Hello everyone this is my first post but i have been reading around here for a while

I bought a 1986 gmc 2500 4x4 a while ago and it had the 6.2 replaced with a newer 6.5 at some time in its life. but the motor is a non turbo.

Im very interested in putting a turbo on my truck but would like hear some input from the Detroit gurus before i go any further.

I have been looking at the common mods people have been doing but im not very interested in spending to much money on this. Id like to be able just to throw together a ebay setup

I have access to a hx35 turbo that was on my buddies Cummins, and my friends work at the local diesel shop and are always telling me they got spare turbos from 6.5s that are laying around from them doing Cummins swaps.

The only thing im thinking i will need are turbo exhaust manifolds, a turbo, crossover pipe, and down pipe. please correct me if im wrong as im sure i am.

as far as the exhaust manifolds go do i only need the turbo side manifold?

and i no longer have access to the turbo parts from the 6.5 at the diesel shop until the next swap they do. But a friend has a hy35 turbo. any thoughts on that?
