Default Chain questions???

I'm looking at some chain. The dude that has it doesn't know squat about it. I know there's different grades, and there all marked, what do I want for pulling, heavy, just truckin chain.

Grade 70 or 80. It'll be stamped on a link every foot.

I'll stick to straps thank you. Seen up close and personal what a chain can do when it breaks.

I want it for pulling people out of ditches, stuff like that.

Get you a good strap and never look back. Chains are for tieing down heavy equipment. I use a 4 inch wide 20 foot long, no shock to either vehicle when you have to bump them hard.

And make sure it's a "recovery strap".
Not a tie down strap for lumber and ****.
Google a pic and you'll see what we mean.

Jerk Strap, all the way baby. They are made to stretch like a bungee cord. Get a running start, hit the end of the stretch and hit the brakes and hold. This way the strap takes the stress of pulling and not your drive line.

No you don't. Chains are made for static loads.

Get a chain for people you don't like,and a jerk line for the ones you do like.
