Vicodin
So im taking vicodin until I can get into the dentist to have a root canal. It makes me REALLY sick feeling if I eat or not I feel like crap. I need some ideas for food to eat since im allready limited to the food I can eat because of my tooth ach now I need ideas for things that wont upset my stomach that much. Anyone have any ideas on different things I can try, I had veg. soup tonight and feel worse than when I dont eat anything at all. This sucks

Stick to stuff like bread, pasta, etc... If I have to take pain meds, anything liquid (like soup) or too rich really upsets my stomach too.
I also found that eating and then waiting about 30 minutes before taking pain meds help too.
Hope you can get into the dentist soon! That's gotta suck!

yep it sucks I either have to live with the pain or feel like crap. The other thing that sucks is if I want to work this week I cant take the pain meds while working. I know its gonna suck but I feel bad when I have to take off work, so Im gonna try to fight through the pain and see if I can make it tomorrow. Thanks for the tips I definatly think I could live off of cottage cheese for the next few days, I love that stuff. The only plus side to this is my husband is taking care of me so I really dont have to do anything .

You might want to call the doctor and see if you can get switched to another kind of medicine. They do have non-narcotic pain meds that will help with the pain and not mess you up so bad. I knew a girl that had knee surgery and got a perscription for it. (Can't remember the name of it though...) She was able to drive, work, etc. and not be drowsy... Just a thought if it is going to be a while...

Im thinking about cutting a pill in half and seeing what that does. I was on 500mg Hydrocdone and it helped but didnt completly get rid of the pain so now I have 750mg vicodin. Hopefully it will be within this week that they can get me in. I also have a bottle of Lidocaine (sp?) that is basically the same stuff the dentist uses as a general anaesthetic just deluted it helps just not for that long, so I have to put it on alot.

Another option to help reduce the nausea is to reduce the dose. Assuming you are taking one tab, try a 1/2 tab. I'm also guessing you are doing this every 4-6 hours. Try taking 600-800mg of ibuprofen(Motrin) in between. (alternating meds every 3 hours or so. Max dose of ibuprofen a day is 3200mg. Or if you have Aleve at home, that will work as well. Take 2 of those every6-8 hours.
These items are pain relievers and also anti-inflammatory meds. MIght help. They are popular drugs in the dental field. This is assuming you tolerate these ok.
