Default The Official Hurricane Irene Thread

To be updated by everyone thats getting ready to catch an *** whooping from Irene. What you doing to prepare and update during and after to let us know how you made out.

Went out and bought food, batteries, beer and lots of gas for the generator today. Getting ready to go pull some boats out the water and set them high and dry. Then its off to Maryland first thing to snag the camper from the campground.

Should be interesting

I got 65 gal of gas for the generator, looking at being out of power for at least a week maybe 2, 10 gallons of mixed for the chainsaws/ we are the only one in the neighborhood that actually know how to use them, bunch of yuppies around here, I took down a decent size maple in my front yard because it was in bad shape, didn't want to take a hit to the roof. I have my small backhoe ready to go if the creek/ Rock Creek/ starts to rise and I need to build a wall around the house or to just fill in my window wells to keep the water out of the basement, my first floor is only 3 steps high so any higher than that I'm screwed. flood plane cuts right across my front yard, I've never seen it but my wife said that during Agness in 72 the creek was in the middle of the road in front of the house, and my first step is only 1 foot above the road. The most important thing is that the truck is full of fuel so if power is out I should be able to get somewhere that has power if we need more fuel. enough for now, STAY SAFE FOLKS. Bob
