When I was just out of H.S. I was burning the candle at both ends and in the middle. I fell asleep, crossed the opposite lane, ran off the road, up a small embankment and woke up as the car rolled back onto the road and ended up back in my own lane. I guess gravity pulled me back down the hill toward the road. Scariest feeling I've ever had. Seriously. I stopped and you could see the tire marks in the grass. I exited the road 4 feet before a telephone pole and entered again just past a mailbox and before a stone wall.

I've never driven when that tired again. I've slept in the car several times, but never driven. Kind of like "scared straight".

My guardian angel was on overtime that morning...

I have done that quite a few times after farming. The drive was 2 hours and several times I would wake up at college and not know how I got there. I have slept walked once also, got ready for work, in the truck and backing out of the driveway when mom woke me up. I have learned a few tricks now tht will keep me awake if I have to be driving when tired. I stop and get a cup of hot chocolate. It wakes me right up until I am done drinking it then I am tired again. I always get a huge one so that it lasts quite a while.
