Default Easiest elk hunt ever!

After many years and several thousands of dollars, I have found the best elk hunting around. After complaining to a buddy of mine about lack of time to go hunting these days and the general expense (I killed a tire and rim on my camper already this year), he offered to take me to his "secret" elk spot. Having been to many "secret" hunting grounds I was skeptical but thought what the heck. Well, picked him up at 6, drove 30 minutes, walked 15 minutes and spotted a herd as soon as it was light. Watched the herd gather up (roughly 100) and start directly towards us, they walked by about 50 yards from us, I shot and missed.

About to shoot myself for screwing up the easiest shot in my life, we find a group of ten that was hiding after I shot. This time I was able to seal the deal from about 50 yards again, a nice young, fat, dry cow. An easy drag down a hill, loaded her in the pickup and had her back to town at the butcher by 10:30 am.

All these years I've been doing it wrong, four wheelers, campers, new guns, electronic gizmos, hiking all day, freezing my butt off.... all not necessary. All that is needed is, a pickup and a good friend. My brother, "The great white hunter" says I'm a baby, that real men hunt off horseback for the big bulls. I say screw that, meat is meat and this trip was easy on me and my wallet!
