California passed AB 962: mail order ammo ban
Well, our worthless assembly, house, senate and RINO governator passed the A.B. 962 Handgun Ammunition Bill last night. Requires face-to-face transaction (banned mail order), requires additional regulations to how the vendor stores ammo, requires a thumb print and personal information (even what salesperson made the transaction!) be stored by the vendor. Does not require a background check but it does require the vendor to keep all your personal info on file and make it available to the police.
This in an effort to stop 'criminals' from acquiring ammo, allegedly. Even though all it takes is one guy with a clean record to buy ammo from in state and sell it to his buddies; or to just drive out of state and buy it anyway. In my mind, on a State level, this is almost as invasive as the Patriot Act is on a national level.

Before the midnight deadline Governor Schwarzenegger acted on 685 bills that were on his desk. He signed 456, and vetoed 229.
One of the bills that he signed was Assembly Bill 962. It would require handgun ammunition to be kept behind the counter where customers cannot access it without assistance. It would also require gun shop owners to thumbprint people who buy handgun ammunition, as well as record their identification and provide that information to police.
The Governor released a statement explaining why he signed this bill.

I have signed important public safety measures to regulate the sale and transfer of .50 caliber rifles, instituted the California Firearms License Check program, and promoted the use of microstamping technology in handguns. I have also vetoed many pieces of legislation that sought to place unreasonable restrictions and burdens on firearms dealers and ammunition vendors.
Assembly Bill 962 reasonably regulates access to ammunition and improves public safety without placing undue burdens on consumers. For these reasons, I am pleased to sign this bill."

And if I lived there, I be proud to vote him out of office, but then your in a state of gays and libs so all we can do is say a prayer for you and your state.
We got a nut job I'm sure you seen on TV saying the Republicans want everyone to die quick, now he voted right on many votes on bills and seen where he was fighting Wasting waste, but then loses is mind when it comes to the health care bill that the people don't want and not one democrap stood up to say he was wrong.
He won't be back in office and I for one don't think we should wait, but jerk his butt out of there quick in a recall to send a message, but on the other hand let them find out in the 2010 elections, time to clean house and hold the new guys feet to the fire to remind them who there suppose to represent in DC

Nope. And just when ammo was getting back onto the shelves and wasn't on back order online, now there's going to be another surge of ammo stockpiling in CA. After this bill goes into effect in 2011, I suspect a lot of NV and AZ shops will be quite pleased with their increase in business!

What an idiot! He does realize that the state of California is hurting for money doesn't he?? How in the hell does record keeping for ammo sales keep the community safe?? Sounds to me like he, along with a bunch of other fools is trying to make the law abiding citizen a criminal.

The Calguns Foundation has a seemingly solid plan to take A.B. 962 to the courts, it's apparently got quite a few holes in it, so hopefully that goes through. But that's the quality that our legislators and Rino governor are cranking out. There were 700 some-odd bills on his desk to approve/veto this weekend, all were on par with this trash.

Wasn't he also complaining here a while back about there wasn't enough revenue and that he wanted to tax marijuana?? Economics is definitely not his strong suit. I think it was said before, but Arizona and Nevada will welcome all of your ammo purchases. You could always move to Oklahoma, we have a constitutional right to hunt and fish in this state..
