Talking Finaly Made it Shooting

And have come to the conclusion I really need to shoot more with the new DMS-1 scope. Do like the scope and mounts but need to get the feel for em as I've got a long way to go to get comfortable with the scope instead of the EoTech.

It's so much different shooting with a scope than a EoTech or even Iron Sights & while it was easy to zero the scope I kept fudging up the eye relief and trying to do it with both eyes open like the EoTech. Hate getting that funky black circle in the scope when eye relief is not exactly right, where with the EoTech if it's sighted in you just put the dot on target and squeeze.

Now it's nice having the 4 power as I was hitting silhouettes out at 200 & 300 yards, but was missing more than I was hitting.

Also do not like the VFG with the scope, it makes it almost impossible to shoot off a rest or a bench and is more a hindrance than a asset.

Think I'm going to look into getting one of Magpuls new single point slings as well, was just not enamored with the Blue Force Gear sling without any web gear on. I can't make it short enough for me & it the AR hangs down further and is not as comfortable, not to mention while running through the canyon I rubbed the scope against something & lost the front pop up scope cap (no great loss as it's not near the quality of a Butler Creek flip up) I'd like to be able to sling the AR cross chest nice and high instead of having the barrel hand several inches below my knee. Also managed to smack the boys with the VFG a couple times when I took both hands off the AR and let it hang free.

Spent some time behind the 10/22 T as well sighting it in & she's a sweet shooting little rifle, but the stock is to short for me & I could just barely get this scope adjusted for eye relief as short as the stock was. However, was hitting metal gongs at 100 yards easy it's so accurate. Now it just needs a full sized stock.

I really like VFG's with the EoTech, for me it helps when doing shooting and moving drills, you can drive the muzzle better faster and it helps control the recoil as well.

However, taking a CQB set up gun and then putting a scope on it and trying to run the same kind of drills really humbled me, I can't shoot for shat right now with the DMS-1....

Course the AR also had the standard POS bushmaster collapsible stock and my check weld was **** poor.

Have been wondering how a bipod would work, that way you can still have a stubby VFG but shoot off the bipod instead of bags. Course if one was to get a QD stubbie VFG instead of one that ya can't get off.

Course I could always slip the front sling swivel out futher toward the front of the rail & it's official, I HATE green furniture on a black rifle

I switched from a 512/magnifier combo to a ACOG.

Best of both....although a more target-oriented scope would be fun, too.
