Unfortunately, the only reason members of congress didn't jump on the band wagon (this time) is because of the economic crisis. What happens a year or two down the road when (hopefully) the economy has improved and the Lefties are feeling froggy and full of themselves? If these guys (and gals) are coming up with ideas like this during these troubled times, what happens when things relax and they actually have time to think of ways push it through?

like there is a law around that would change the way criminals do things, come one, drugs are illegal, that's why they are no trouble and no one has them right ?

I just don't want the government classifying me a "criminal" for owning the gun that will enable me to do that.

If you were on the fence about getting a firearm or 2, get it/them. Also buy whatever ammo you can afford.

Well Marine, there's been some question as to what part the military's role will play if shit hits the fan (SHTF). They do uphold the constitution, so do they side with the Commander in Chief who is supposed to uphold the Constitution (but probably won't), or do they side with the Bubba's? I'm obviously not going to challenge a troop, but if they fire on American civies on American soil the country will never be the same.
See the problem here?

I took the oath to defend the Constitution and to obey the orders of the president of the United States. However, if they conflict, what is one to do? For me, the Constitution would take priority.
If you take the Oath as an officer, it states to defend the Constitution and doesn't mention the president. it is the same as the Oath for the National Guard. For some it would be a tough situation to be in.

I have a feeling a lot of military and police are going to be facing some very difficult decisions on defending the constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic in the near future. I know quite a few cops are starting to really seriously think about what happens when they're ordered to disarm or confiscate firearms from upstanding citizens based on a technicality...because the average cop is still in favor of law abiding citizens being armed.

Yes, but a cop has a job to do, and if he doesn't do it he'll be fired. By the time all this comes around, he probably won't be able to survive without his job... I sure don't envy them, especially when many Americans are better armed than they are.

Yeah you're definitely right about that. and a step further, not only will they face losing their job and possibly house but depending on what the controversy is over may face criminal charges for which they'd do hard time and be indefinitely disarmed. under that pressure, very few cops are going to stand up for what's right.
