Default HVAC Guys?

Got a question for any HVAC guys... with the new tax credit in mind...

I have a 65 year old house with original windows, 6 inches of ancient rolled insulation, a 12 year old Trane gas/HVAC system w/plastic bag flexible ducting. (Ducting leaks)

I want to replace some windows and add more insulation to my attic, but if I do, it will cover up the duct work. Is it advisable to replace the flex-duct at the same time as I add/replace insulation. (I can't afford a new HVAC system this year.)

In the future, if I replace duct-work now, will it be compatible with a new HVAC system?

Thanks

How would ducting not be forwards compatible?

Yes it would be a great idea to replace it or at least fix any leaks before insulating more. With more insulation and new windows, your heat load/loss should go down, letting you use a smaller A/C and furnace. Best bet is to do it all at once and make sure you get a heat load calc done on the house with the newer insulation specs.
