Just seeing what the work outlook is here for everyone.... I'll start, bein a union electrician and relying on the construction industry I'm still floating. But since winter is approaching/here and with the lack of investors/banks willing to fund projects right now and no one wants to pay for heating jobsites, the work outlook is not looking so hot. But we do have contracts with metropolitan school district and 2 larger projects that will hopefully push us through winter. Only time will tell..... -

Well since i work for FedEx Freight the company that writes my check every week depends on the economy and we all know how that is going, they havent laid anybody off yet or cut hours but they have told us that if we want anytime off without pay we can have it with no penalties on us...and it also sucks that im the low guy on the totem pole here and if it does get worse then ill be one of the first to go

But our terminal is jumpin pretty good right now and they keep breaking stuff for us to fix down here at the shop so hopefully it will be ok...God willing -

Well Obama supposedly supports the T. Boone Pickens Plan. Which is making CNG power for everything pretty much. He really wants to push the Natural Gas play since its such an abundant, clean and cheap energy source.

And it just so happens thats the business Im in.. So as long as Obama pushes for Natural Gas, Im in good shape.

untill his taxes get me at the end of the year.. -

Still working but worried. We're really slow right now. They're talking about letting maybe 2 techs go but not sure, haven't said anything about writers.

I did find out that I left the elliptical world in time. They're over a million off on last months sales plan. All bonuses, raises and the Christmas party have been canceled . They can't even afford to hire anyone to replace me. Hate to see it but I'm glad I'm not a part of it. -

I'm basically laid off. I get to hook a scan tool to a car every now and then, but basically I'm just staying around so that I can say I have extra months of experience on my resume. Not getting paid anything.

I'm in school also, that's what I'm mainly doing. -

My only worry is what Obama will do tax wise on corporations, as well as what mandatory benefits he may impose. If it gets bad, I'll just lay everyone off and go back to working by myself, there is always work for me. -

Just left a regular 40 hour a week job to move to the world of the self-employed. Not exactly the best time to be doing it, but my friend, whose business I'm taking over, was finished on the 16th and if I wasn't here to pick up the clients, they would find someone else. He's been in Orange County for 30+ years hauling horses and had quite the client list. I've just got to make it through the end of the year and get into the desert show series in Jan. Then business will be good. I'll be much happier at this one that at my last one. So if anybody needs any horses moved, let me know -

I'm still pluggin away, not too worried, but have the thought in the back of my head. Its bad when the job that we were working on has been shut down since Sept 15th, and another one that was going to start soon is on hold pending a important meeting. I know that there are others that are below me on the food chain, and if my eveluations are any indication as to if I will be let go then I am safe. I guess that if I do get let go then I will start working for myself again, not the best time to do it but you gotta do what you gotta do. -

I am still working, over time is still being given out but we just had a meeting Tue. and around first of the year the temps will all be gone, and possibly I could get laid off in Feb or Mar. There is a good chance that I won't, only time will tell. -

Another vote for Natural Gas. If fact our company just put in a new pipeline and are thinking of putting in another. Unless this global warming thing actually exists, I'll have a job for as long as I don't screw it up!

Oh really? Larger than the Jonas field under Wyoming/Colorado/Utah? That You will have to prove for me to believe. The Jonas field is huge and they are thinking maybe it might even be bigger than what they previously thought. -
