Default Bypass Oil Filter(s)

Ok guys this idea is has been floating around in my head ever sense i got my last amsoil mag.
So the question is would it be worth putting a larger amsoil bypass filter(s) on a gasser pickup. I think this would lengthen out my oil change intervals. Me and my dad have ALWAYS run amsoil in our trucks. Mine now has 252k on the odometer. Still runs like it's brand new. My dads 07 classic has around 120K on his. Still runs like new. No oil smoke either. So what do ya think guys and gals? I thank ya'll for your input.

I don't see how it would hurt to have a bypass on a gasser. You probably won't realize the benefits as much as we do because you're not battling soot but it should still have a benefit for you.

yea I dont see what it would hurt to do it but I am not sure if it will help as much as it does with the diesels.

I don't really think a Bypass filter will help with either one of those two. Mostly its for peace of mind and longevity of the engine. Diesels have to battle soot which increases the viscosity of the oil over time. A gas engine doesn't have that problem so I really don't see how it will help much in that area.

I think it would help. Not to the same degree as diesels, but I would think that you should be able to run longer on the same oil than you would in a diesel.
Call Amsoil Tech at 715-399-8324 and ask them.

It is an added expense, but it does have benefits. Keeps the oil cleaner than your regular full flow filter. You also increase your oil capacity. More oil means better a little added heat control/distribution. Also makes the oil last longer so you will get the extended drain intervals..with appropriate testing.

I did this on my '96 chevy pickup. cant say I noticed any change in performance compared to just amsoil, but my oil capacity is now 7 or 7 1/2 quarts compared to the original 5. To be honest, if you treat a chevy small block right you'll go hundreds of thousands of miles before you have trouble beyond water pumps and general tune ups, even without using amsoil. But I think overall the bypass filter system is an economic benefit more than anything. 1 oil change every 25000+ miles compared to 1 every 3000 miles with conventional. And 25000 is definitely the low end. Get the old OilAnalysis going and there's no telling how long you could run without an oil change.

I agree with the above. You will save money after the savings pay for the bypass.
