Default Help converting MP4

We took some vids today on our new camera and Windows Movie Maker will not accept MP4 format. What can I use to convert these MP4 vids to MPEG, AVI, etc.?

Thanks, Ryan

Thanks for the help, I have windows Vista and it isn't listed in their requirements. I tried to do the free download first but it doesn't even run on my puter. I'll keep trying to find something but hopefully someone who has a trusted converter system will chime in. Again thanks for the hlep.
