Chinook crash kills 7 soldiers in Iraq - Army News, opinions, editorials, news from Iraq, photos, reports - Army Times

Went down about 20 miles east of me.........lost 7 soldiers........7 others are grounded here.......they were headed from Kuwait to Camp Anaconda at Balad.......God Speed.......

 

I know it sucks. Chinooks (CH-47) are having a hard time over there.

 

Not so much in Iraq...that is only the 3rd 47 to go down in Iraq since the war started in '03...Afghanistan has been much worse.

Luckily, I didn't know anyone onboard this one. The last couple I wasn't so lucky....

 

i was going to shoot you a PM but i figured you would see this soon enough........this is only the 2nd to crash cause of mechanical failure, the first one took an RPG........they just left here yesterday i believe.........we had the memorial on base for the soldiers......

 

Yeah...I actually heard about it the day of...The Chinook Community is pretty small and news travels fast.

 

i figured so..........i am kicking my *** for not getting a picture of the 7 chinooks we had setting on the airfield here......it looked awesome.....

 

When I say over there, I mean the Middle East.
