Default R/C Monster Trucks.....

anyone play with them??? i was looking at buying a 4x4 solid axle truck like the Wheely King from HPi Racing........but i would like something in 1/10 or 1/8 scale........not 1/12 like the King is.........anyone got any suggestions for another SOLID AXLE 4x4 truck on the market........i need something to play with over here.......we got our own course to play on too.....i can get the Wheely King for less than 150 off Ebay new......i would prefer to not spend over 400 on a 1/8 scale truck.........AND MUST BE ELECTRIC.......NO RACE FUEL ON BASE......

this is the Wheely King.....

This was my pre diesel obsession. I have a t-maxx with over a grand in it and a Clod Buster with about 600 in it. What do you plan to do with it? Crawling or just driving it around. Electric or nitro. I don’t know a lot about the wheelie king I have been outa the game for about 2 years now. In my opinion there’s nothing better than a mod Clod if your going electric. The chassis and options for clods are almost endless. Clods have the motors on the axles so the center off gravity is lower. But if your not getting it solely for crawling (and im not syaing thats all clods can do) there’s some others out there for you. Trucks like the txt-1 or kyosho twin force… if they still make it .

Same here, it was my pre diesel obsession. I have a HPI Savage 25ss. I really liked the nitros, never got into electrics though. In hindsight, I would have gotten a TMAXX or Revo.. Parts availability is alot better for the TMAXX, and the basic chassis design and handling is much better. The savage is a wicked machine no doubt, but I woulda went with a Traxxas Product if I had to do it again..

Been Tryin to get rid of my savage and all the parts.. 3 motors and all that.. Lemme know if you are interested.

Hey KC if Logans not interested a buddy of mine wants to get into the hobby. He wants my maxx but I have way to much in it to part with it I got it back in 2000 when they first came out . I still haven’t even broken in the O.S. .21 yet….

Ill second that the savage is a good truck and can take a beating. I had one for awhile with a picco .26 when that engine first came out. The only thing i don’t like about the maxx is when I land upside down from more than 5 feet in the air i break body mounts. Ive tried aluminum but end up breaking shock towers or bulkheads so I switched to aluminum bulk heads and shock towers now I bend aluminum body mounts . With the savage and that roll bar I never had that issue.

Oh Ive bent MANY of those roll bars, launching off of 25 and 30' high gravel piles ,and ive demolished a few sets of TVP's hitting stuff @ WIDE OPEN head on.. yea I definately say this is a tough truck, and there are ENDLESS options for parts online, but as far as small hobby shops locally, they dont carry much HPI stuff, cause its more expensive, and not as widely used as the Traxxas stuff.. but yea, Logan, if you are interested, PM me, if not, thats cool too..

i also have a T-Maxx. i was planning on gettign rid of it, but after i came up with the bright idea of trying to fabricate some stacks for it.....i think im gonna keep it for awhie. if you cant have a nitro powered truck, id look into the E-maxx since traxxas has such great support and ive been pretty happy with my truck. the savage is very nice though

That wheely king looks pretty cool. I have never seen that one myself. I kinda like the Tamiya Highlift. There are some cool videos of it in action on youtube. I have a 2wd Traxxas Stampede VXL. With the Li-Po batteries it will easily run 45-50 mph. That is if you can keep the front wheels on the gound. It isnt really a monster truck. More like a car chasis with a lift kit on it, but its pretty damn fast.

the only way im getting an IFS truck is if i get one of the REAL looking CORR race truck bodies for it and i still really just dont like the look of them........my real trucks are solid axle and so are my play trucks........if i dont get the King ill get an Axial Scorpion and build a crawler out of it........but mostly ill be driving it around and playing on a few obstacles but nothing serious..........im going to get the crawler kit for it that stretches the wheelbase 2.5 inches and im going to get the drop in lockers for it also.........
