Default Little Help With Mother-In-Law's Car

So my mother in law has an 05 exploder with a 4.0 V6 in it. Got 100K miles on it, and I have no Idea what kind of oil is in it. Its getting close to a change and I dont know what I should fill it with. Parts man says factory filled it with mineral oil to the tune of $13/qt!! Thats out of the question. Then he also says his computer says to put synthetic in it. Best value he's got is $6/qt. Little more reasonable but still expensive. She bought it from a buy-here pay-here lot so we have no idea what to put in it. Am I going to hurt things by putting Dino oil in it? Its got a no-name generic filter on it now so if I was a betting man I would say it just got conventional in it when the crap filter was put on but I can't say for sure. -

no you'll be fine put what ever you want in it, some people say once you go synthetic you cant go back, thats not true just drain it all out there will be such a little amount of whatever is in it, it will just dilute into the new oil. -

5 quarts of any premium 5W30 will do. I thought that they took 5W20 but alldata says otherwise. -
