Would that have been liveable 30 years ago? 15? 3?

I did not watch much of the story line but I did see the wreck. Coming in to that turn is the fastest part of the speedway. When I went to driving school out there that was the only place we could get the car to the limiter. We were maxed out at 160 mph.

Seeing that wreck is pretty scary, I am sure the car I drove 2 years ago would not have handled it that well. Plus I would have had a big ole turd in my britches.

Ha yea I saw that on sat while watching qualifying, I thought for sure he was dead.... Scary stuff, like others said it goes to show how far this sport has come. The whole area around the driver was still in the original shape for the most part which is a feat in itself! The chassis boys should get a pat on the back for that one!

If not for the safer barrier, McDowall would still be in the hospital.

Keep in mind not only did he walk away, he drove the entire Cup race yesterday start to finish.
