I had to drop off my black Labrador this morning because she suddenly stated losing weight 3 days ago and the vet just called me to pick her up wrapped in blankets. She had heart worms and a stomach infection and died right after coming out of surgery. She is in the back of the truck right now and she will be buried aft home. Shelly was the best p et I ever had. She was 9 years old. The only pic i have of her is from last night sick as can be in the living room. She will be a greatly missed part of the family.

 

Damn bro. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have a chocolate and a yellow, i would be lost without them.

I just came in from burying her with my brother and neither of us new it would be half this hard to say goodbye to a dog. She was almost named reeses because the day we bought her as a puppy at that yard sale, she reached over my 4 year old lap and ate my reeses cup. Then my brother thought of the name shelly, and it stuck.

Sorry for the typo above, she was 10 years old. While I was out there, I made a grave marker from a board. I also took a piece of ribbon that the vet tied around the blankets. I have never been so sad in my whole life. I guess I will just have to get over it.

 

Takes time not easy, My friend lost his dog last year a truck ran her over and broke her back and he found her down the road from his house, and he had to put her down, but he just couldent do it, he called me to come and its hard having to do something like that to something someone loves so much...

 

Sorry to hear of your loss also. Nothing harder then losing your best friend. Been there, It takes a bit to get over it. You may have lost a great friend but no one can ever take away the great memories

 

Brother I can tell you it's one of the hardest things I ever had to do. My lab was 10 when he died. Never had any thing that was that loyal to me. It was like loosing a best friend.

I just got back from the vet with my other black lab and she has heart worms too but we got her meds and she will make it. I am taking my brother's yellow lab tomorrow.

 

Man I am so sorry this happened. I lost my old German Shepard Rottweiler mix a few months ago. They really are family not pets. I have always been a firm believer of burying my old dogs at their favorite sleeping spot. O'L Coco is out right on the tree line where she could watch the house but be well hidden.

One of the best dogs I ever had. Hands down she never once pooped in the yard! Always went to the woods where none of us had to deal with it.

You just have to remember all of the good times and happiness that your canine companion gave you. I love my dogs more than I love my brothers. At least my dogs won't steal from me and they are always out to protect my family!
