It Never Rains....

There is a song that goes, "It never rains in California...." and I am beginning the think it's true. We have two wells on our property, spaced nearly a mile apart. At this time both are dry. For me, I am suffering through a drought. But maybe luck is finally shining on me, the Weather Forecast is for rain this weekend :U:
The actual forecast for the weekend was rain and cold air, so much cold air was expected they even suggested a chance of snow on the area peaks around here above 1500 feet. Now we are located about an hour north of San Francisco and only a few miles from the ocean, so snow around here is not very common. It has happened in the past though and yesterday I was ready, I covered up the wood piles, got everything out of the weather. Foregoing a bike ride, I rolled my two motorcycles into the barn and buttoned things up.
I had hoped to maybe change the oil in the bikes when the rain started, and the barn is my favorite place to work when forced to be indoors.
The first real storm of the season is to be a doozy. As the clouds darkened and the air grew colder, I fired up my truck and went into town to see if I could find any tire deals since Christmas is getting closer. Nothing.
When I came home it was still light out so I gave the truck a quick washing but was prevented from drying it as I was pulled away to take care of some "Honey-Do's" and then eat dinner.Distracted by my girlfriends excellent cooking, I never went back outside to finish drying the truck or put it undercover.
Last night at 8pm I sent an email to a friend in Iraq, telling him to enjoy the heat because my thermometer showed it was 36 degrees an holding. This morning I went out to get the paper, over night it dropped down into the twenties. I looked at my truck and thought oh shit! In neglecting to dry it the previous night, all the water froze. I could not open the doors. They were frozen shut. Thinking maybe the rain will thaw things out, I look up and see only blue skies.
For me, the drought continues. My wells will remain dry for at least another day. A quick look at the weather map and I do not see any precipitation anywhere in my vicinity. I suppose I'll have to tow the water tank into town and fill it a few times today. At least the ol lady won't want to tag along. On sunday's she loves to run my phone bill up talking to her mother on the other side of the universe.....
