When you put the aftermarket cd player in the truck, did you cut the wires or did you buy the plug? Do you have any amps? Could also be a loose connection on the battery.

check all your fuses. you might have snagged the REM wire on a ground enough to send a short somewhere important. and pull out the stereo and see if you snagged any harnesses anywhere else and maybe pinched them or something.

start by checking ALL of the fuses in the dash panel you never know if they route a wierd wire through something. if all appears good, start checking fuses under the hood. will the truck crank over and not start or can you not even get any power to even dome lights and that kind of stuff.

if you are having a problem even getting power into the entire electrical system check your connections on the battery. ESPECIALLY the ground wires chevys do some weird stuff when grounds arent good. make sure you check the battery to engine and battery to frame/fender ground. hope this helps! keep us updated and well try and help

there is a cluster of ground wires way up in the dash above the glove compartment i've fixed many trucks by bypassing and grounding sowhere else.
