I also have a viper with remote start. If a shop installs it, make sure they have experience with Diesels.
It it possible to control engine run by voltage checking or tach checking. If they don't have experience or don't know how to wire it, they can switch off this saftey feature. That means ignition can be on the entire run duration of remote start. Thats dangerous.
Ask them how they connect the wires. Any thing less then solder and iron and shrink tube is asking for trouble. If they use fuse tabs and things like that, grab your stuff and run.
If you decide to wire it on your own, try to get a Factory Service manual, you will need it!
Viper is a good choice, because the manual covers Diesel and that Wait-to-start- input.
They also have a huge databank you can maybe access via the dealer.

My garage is insulated and keeps my cars about 15* cooler then my house. Nothing beats a 65* truck when its 15* outside

Viper is GOOD too.

I personally thought it was stupid that they just didn't rename it Viper. When I got mine last year the salesperson gave me the whole run down on that situation. But I guess theirs people out their that won't buy Viper but will buy Clifford...

I looked that model up. Are you SURE it's supposed to work on diesels? Also, is there one out there that doesn't double up as a security system?
