Default Door Speaker Upgrades

Ok i have 4 6inch pioneer door speakers in my truck and i'm looking to upgrade the speakers to something that will match my new subs and amp i'm going to buy around Christmas or the beginning of the year. I was wondering if Rockford made any two way door speakers and tweeters. If any one could point me in the right direction it would be great. THANKS GUYS! -

I am a fan of Rockford Fosgates. They have a really sweet website you should pay a visit to. I used to have a cool RF t-shirt that I literally wore out... It read CRANK IT UP!!! Goodluck in your speaker choice.

Depends on how far you want to go, I have Kicker 6" Mid-bass, 4" Mid-range and 1 inch tweets in my doors.

Sounds great and I only had to trim (maybe 1/2") of the factory speaker holes in the door to make them fit. The only thing you see is the tweets. -

Reviving this thread.

I want to replace both rear QC door speakers. There is absolutely no sound through them now; with old stereo nor with new JVC.
1. How do I test to make sure there is even current going to the rear speakers?
2. What speakers should I get? I have the stock front door speakers and tweeters on the pillars.

Thanks! -

The best way to test them is to check the speaker for continuity. If it doesn't have continuity then it's bad, if not you need to start looking for a broken wire. Did they start to crackle and pop?

As far as which ones to get, your truck takes 6 1/2 inch round coaxials in the back. I would recommend Polk db651 for the rears. Right now Circuit City has a deal going, buy one pair get the second pair half off. 150 dollars for the 6.5's in the back and the 5.25's in the front shipped to your house.

Search on any website:
(db 651 for the rear)
(db 521 for the front) -

So ideally I should replace the front door speakers too I guess, correct? Will the db 521's fit directly in there without any mods?

Thanks! -

The QC doors have 5.25 round speakers in them. Front doors on an 2001.5 have 6x9s (at least the 3 or so I've seen), although a 6.5 is an easy size to put in there with a quick homemade baffle (plywood).

Ideally you should concentrate on the front speakers as that is where you want the majority of the sound coming from (unless you stand backwards at concerts). I don't even use the back speakers in my truck. -

I don't use the back right now either 88 but it would be nice to have some sound from them.
I'm looking for the new speakers now.
Thanks! -

Put a nice set up front with a decent amp @ around 75-100w/ch and you'll forget all about those back speakers It all boils down to your personal preference though. Good luck. Can't go wrong with the Polk Momos, good sounding set if you like them. I still recommend to everyone to listen before you buy though if at all possible. -
