"The" 2 Stroke Oil Thread
#281
was adding 2-stroke for about a year and half and then stopped because where I fuel went to a partial bio-diesel mix and the engine sound and smoothness continued even when I did not add 2-stroke to the fuel.
In standard #2 ULSD I would definitely add the 2-stroke, and I have never lost any bolts.

Mopar1973man
from what I have read off the other posts the claim was that the 2 stroke oil loosened bolts. So why was the one post making the distinction that he would never use marvel misery oil by mopar1973man? It didn't read like that was the reason😱

Loosening bolts is probably someone's truck falling apart ;-) sorry. . I used marvel mystery oil many years ago and it swelled the rubber in the seals and ruined dirt bike carb. I'm pretty sure the oil attacked the rubber. I'm not sure how newer seals and related items would react but I'm not ready to be the guinea pig. I do know 2stroke oil is designed to be run in modern gas outboard engines and is designed to lubricate and burn clean. I would think that would be more useful to overcome the poor quality some fuel stations provide. I have recently been using local American owned station and the guy gets good quality fuel so I just use some power service anti gel/cetane boost

Marvel misery oil
ok... That sounds reasonable to me! I know for sure that different solvents react with certain types of seal compositions unfavorably. There was an old school backyard mech. Fix of putting a small amount of brake fluid in a leaky transmission to seal a leak, it would swell the seals and possibly stop the leak but the problem is it doesn't swell them uniformly and not just the one it beaded too so you probably just sealed the fate of the whole trans. Rather than just replacing the deal! So I will stay away from marvel for the foreseen future😃

Yeah, that "backyard mechanic's fix" you spesk of is quite common here in El Paso, TX. We probably have thee most fly-by-night used car lots here, per capita. And, all have Mexican names ie: Lencho's Autos, Mundos lote' de carros, Guerro's carros usados, and the list goes on. We have one stretch of road that is right about 3 miles long with "wall-to-wall" used car lots. Ive seen wrecked cars for sale on some of these lots. Its freakin rediculous!!! Ive even seen a mixed concoction of roofing tar mixed with gasoline or diesel to make the old cracked tires look almost new. The mix is wiped on the tires and fills the cracks and smooths the surface. Its gotta be criminal.......... This sort of crap just chaps my hide.
Ok, Im done............
