Just in order to make you guys in the US feel a little better

The current price for diesel fuel in Germany topped today at 1.289 Euro per liter, which equals to 7.15 US$/gal.

Does that make your day though?

CNG and LPG as additional alternative fuel systems are being used more and more. Mainly because the government did not yet put their greedy tax on it. Bi-fuel cars are offered since a few years but could not really get a substantial market share yet.
Biodiesel is available at many gas station but with no or very little advantage in the price.

Since I'm assumin that the Vegi-Diesel, Used vegetable oil craze hasn't hit over there yet have you given any thought to running it. Should be a steady supply of it available I would think. Over here it's all pretty much all called for since so many guys are usin it already.

Veggi-oil as an alternative fuel is known over here since years too, but is not playing a major role though. Since veggi-diesel require to be pre-heated before injection/burning some modifications are required to use it. I know a few guys who use it with older Chevy-Diesels, i.e. Blazer, K30, and the like, but I do not know ANYBODY using it with a Cummins.

With a seperate spare tank it seems to work well in the VP44 pumped trucks. By running a seperate tank that you can turn on and off you can have the truck warmed up before you turn the vegi tank on and turn it off a few miles before you shut down. With this it's not to bad to use. It takes some extra equipment to run strictly the vegi in the primary tank. Could save a lot of money in the long run if a guy was runnin down the road on a regular basis.

I looked into it here, but just to many guys already doin it and the oil is hard to come by.

According to a statistic that shows the development of diesel fuel prices the price in Nov '05 has been at 1,10 EUR/L; based on the conversion rate 1.2 of Nov '05 this would come out at 5.00 US-$/gal.

In Feb '05 the price for diesel fuel was even at 0.95 EUR/L only. Based on the conversion rate 1.32 of Feb '05 this equals to 4.75 US-$/gal!

Anyhow, today we just hit another record with seeing the diesel fuel price at 1.339 EUR/L (7.43 US-D/gal) !!!

Besdies, regular gas is at 1.439/L (7.98/gal) and premium is at 1.459/L (8.09/gal)

The prices are predicted to keep rising....
