That's odd...I can only guess that with the 5% mixture of biodiesel it must bring down the sulphur concentration to ULSD levels. AFAIK EVERYTHING has to be ULSD in N.America now (well Canada and the USA at least)

The green sticker should say that the fuel contains 5-20% bio-diesel blend. In the US all diesel sold is required to be ULSD, even ag use fuel. The only exception to this would be heating oil or the marine use stuff, can't remember the real name for it.
The sticker should say under 500ppm if i remember it right. |

Ask them what the deal is.... I'm willing to bet it is just a left over sticker. All fuel made and sold in the U.S. is ULSD now....... The older standard (Higher sulfur content) isn't available any more.

on the way to school this mornin, after stoppin at 2 different stations that were out of fuel, i pulled into a small station and the pump said 500PPM low sulfur diesel. and this sticker looked new too. im gonna stop again tomorrow and ask the guy, but he's a couple cents cheaper so i'll prolly be stoppin there from now on anyway

You can buy LSD at allot of stations around here still! There is just a warning sticker that states "It is illegal to pump this LOW SULFUR diesel into any vehicle produced after 2007"
LAME! ![]() ![]() I just use whatever fuel is cheapest and add 1pt per fill up (35gal) of TC-w3 2 stroke oil... Works friggin incredibly!!! |

![]() I wonder if I can find any around... Curious to see if there's a difference in performance or smoothness. |

I havent noticed any large difference. The sulfur is just a lubricant, so you may run quieter?

I was going to say you guys are wrong. After looking at epa.gov for a while (I hate their site by the way!) I think you are right. Sometime later this year it appears it will become mandatory to sell only ULSD. So, I guess it is understood that it isn't required just yet....
I got real tired of muddling my way around epa's site. This is the best I could come up with that would give us some guidelines for what the rules are: epa.gov/compliance (Good job on this guys! I like how they publish things as facts and law when they were really just time lines or suggestions. I am pretty sure what I was remembering was different posters and what not that I had seen. They made it seem like it was already law. If it was, then at least they have realized it would be too hard on small refineries to meet the dead lines and have 'adjusted' the law to allow them a little more time. It will be interesting seeing what kind of fuel is available across the nation. I will have to pay attention to that.) |
