This is just one option. I gained 1-2 mpg in my 94.

I think Opti Lube has been show to be a good additve as well.

after doing all my research, opti-lube has my money.

turns out power service isnt that good at all.

opti-lube had excellent water seperation abilities and a GREAT wear test.

My apology to the AMSOIL guy, but I run Shell Rotella synthetic in my 6.0 and have seen a slight increase in mileage and a big decrease in engine temps. If your looking for a fuel additive, I really dont think your gonna find a magic elixir. There are good additives to clean the system which will give you better mileage, some will dissipate water, some will lower the frost point (cold climates) but despite the claims, none will truly improve your mileage. And if your paying $10-30 per gallon for the additive, is it worth it??

i would have to say yes, it is worth it for me. see, the truck is mine, i pay the note, but the company picks up the #2.

i get paid a % on overage in miles, so anything that helps me get better mpg puts a little more $ in my pocket. the optilube gives me an average of 1.5mpg better on the highway. and with all the extended idling i do the truck no longer "hiccups" when bad fuel comes thru.

i can proudly say i get 23-24 mpg HAND CALC'd. and my truck weighs 8200 unloaded.

so yeah, if its better for my fuel system and detonation, fuel economy should result some way or another

SixOhh, I dont want to dispute your numbers but @ $38.95 per gal for the XPD and $56.95 for the normal DFI and you figure it gives you 1.5 better mpg. your going to have to do some fancy math to say it saves you money. I've been driving class 8 trucks for alot of years, seen alot of stuff come & go. Some works, most doesn't. If there was an additive that really worked, wouldn't Petro, or Flying J or Pilot or TA, or Shell or BP put it in their fuel and advertise better fuel economy?
I congratulate you on 23-24 MPG, thats awesome, I read today the 2008 F250 get about 10 right off the showroom floor. I'm averaging around 17-18 with my 07 F250, I dont run heavy, but do pull a 18ft trl with K5 Blazer out to the trails. Approx 7500-8000lbs.

do u think those big trucks stops WANT you to get more MPG?
i'll say it once more, respectively, i dont pay for diesel, so i dont mine paying the 14 bucks per 20 tanks supply for the additive. im no mathmagician, but isnt that less than a dollar per tank?

anyways, im not gonna spat over fuel additive here, i just like the way it smells on my fingers

I'm still waiting to hear why 2 stroke oil is bad in a 3rd. gen. I've been using it in mine for 4 years with no problems to date. but I do dump a bottle of Howes Meaner Kleaner in twice a year.

I hear a lot of good things about Stanadyne and the Valvoline/Cummins fuel conditioners.
