Default New Centerfuge WMO processing

I recently picked up an Industrial waste water / clean room filtration setup that I had planned to use to process waste motor oil. I had known about centerfuges but thought they were out of my price for a nice one. Well after picking up this unit I changed my mind put the waste water setup for sale and want to build a centerfuge. I am a machinist so all of this will be built by me.

So as of this afternoon my bowl is about halfway done.
the ID -6.15", OD - 6.95" and 3" deep with a 1 inch radius at the bottom and a center cone.
The center cone is 1" OD at the top, 1.5" at the bottom and a .625 radius to the 3" deep. cone is 3/4" below the top of the bowl

It is turned out of a solid 7" piece of aluminum rod.
I have a 1/2 HP 3450 RPM motor to turn it.

I still need to figure out the frame work and what to use as the collection bucket.

The picture is of the Bowl when it first came out of the Lathe and i need to flip it and turn it to length and clean up the bottom. Also need to do some polishing on the inside still.

I will finish the bowl and make the lid hopefully next week.

So you have a little back story here are my questions

1) What RPM do you think I should shoot for? I can run 3450 or 1:1 no problem. is that enough? I was thinking to shoot for 4500 or so.

2) How big should I have the opening in the lid? I was thinking 4" or would 3" be better to hold more oil?

The lid will be attached with 6 x 10-24 flathead screws. I am hoping to not have to remove the lid to clean. The bowl will be head down with one 1/2-13 bolt and once the 1/2-13 is removed the whole bowl will lift up and off the shaft. At least that is the plan. and i will just put it in my parts washer to clean it.

any suggestions would be great. I do not know how to calculate G's or anything like that.

Thanks in advance

Ken
