Hey Dano I had the same problem in my 06 Duramax.... except it was with the stock tie rods. I had the truck for two months and hadnt had it in any wrecks touched the torsion bars nothin it was bone stock and the alighnment went out on it. So i took it in and the dealer generously covered it under warrenty and three days later it was out of align again. So i took it back and once again it was aligned. After that time it lasted until i got home (a 15 mile drive) so i turned around and went back and told them that something was wrong. They took it in and put it up on the lift shook the tires pitman and idler arm and found that the tie rods were shot. Hard for me to believe seeing that the truck only had 2100 miles on it and it had never hitched to trailer (yet). So they scheduled it and it went in and got an all new front end and i payed zero for the whole thing. The next time i ever had to touch any of that was when my brother went mudding with his friends (they all have gassers) in my truck and seeing that its a diesel (he didnt think of that) it wieghs alot more than the other trucks and sank in mud over the tires (33/12.50) and none of the other trucks could get him out so he called me and while i was on the way he put it in 4 dig and spun the tires to 100mph and with the truck puttin down 900lb ft at the wheels the stock tie rod ends just couldnt hold up. The right front snapped which he failed to tell me when i was pullin him out. Pulled the truck out and the left front wheel was going straight and the right was going right. Towed it to the dealer and ordered Cognito Motorsports. I put them on as soon as i could get my truck in the shop and noticed that the right front was loose. So i set the truck on the floor and it was still loose. So I called up Cognito and they said it was because i had a three inch lift on there so I had to get braces too. So i did that and when installing those i made sure i cranked them on really tight and the loose ness of the right front went away. I dont know what i did but w/e it was it sure as hell worked. I aligned the truck and it stayed that way until i traded it for the wifes Tahoe. I hope that helps Dano. Let me know. -

i got braces also, its not the pitman and idler playing, i can jack up the passenger side and move the tire in and our horizontally and the whole steering system wont move, but the tie rod will move around in the socket a bit. -

Have you tried tightening it down again.....? I have seen them come loose like that and shoot thru the hub (at highway speeds) and destroy wheels. Its not that common of a problem but when it fails it fails big.

Did you put them in yourself?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Does your truck have the leveling kit on it (new torsion keys) or did you just crank up the factory keys? -

how far are the torsion bars turned up? From what i know you can turn them all the way up and back them off 6 turns and all steering components will be ok after the truck has been realigned. I had a friend that had a 6.5 in his truck and it was a 4x4 he turned his all the way up and it was in the shop every week or every other week having new ball joints installed. -

I got a video of it now.

Firestone would not give my truck an alignment because of the play in the tie rod, they said it was bad. -
