Being extremely disappointed with the AirDog FP100 I recently installed on my 2002 7.3 Powerstroke, I'm wondering--are the hoses/fittings/filters that come with an AirDog kit Biodiesel compatible? That would be one very minor thing to make me feel comfortable with the $500-ish I spent on the AD. -

Default Bio Fuel Compatability

I appreciate the warm response that you guys have given me. I am happy to be a part of the forums and I will do my best to keep up with all questions. I am new to the forums, but bear with me and I will get more adept as I go.

In answer to the bio-compatability.....

Our pump is Bio-Diesel compatible. The lifetime warranty on our pumps is good wether you are running pump fuel, bio or veggie. The lines that come in the kits are compatible as well. However, we have had a few people have issues with heating the line. We are in teh process as we speak of acquiring a hose manufacturer to supply us with heatable fuel line. This will soon be an option for anyone ordering a new Raptor or Air Dog unit.

I am sure we will have a kit available to our customers to upgrade there existing units as well. This should be available within the next few weeks. Feel free to contact me for more information.

Jvencius,

You mention being extremely disappointed, but only mention the fuel line. Is there something else that I can help you with regarding your new unit?

I'm not disappointed at all with the quality of the pump or hardware but so far I have seen NONE of the claims made in any of the AirDog advertising I read prior to buying it. My truck is just as smoky, not any quieter, and my fuel mileage hasn't increased at all so other than the pre-pump 2 micron filtration and air/water separation the AirDog provides, I don't really think I got my money's worth with the AirDog. -

jvencius,

Keep in mind that if you just put your system on, it will take a while before you start seeing some of the benefits of our system.

As far as the smoke, you will actually see an increase in smoke when you first put the sytsem on. This is caused from burning out the carbon deposits that are present in most diesel engines. Once the engine has had a chance to clear itself up, because of the corrected timing....you should see a decrease in smoke output. The quieter operation goes along with this as well.

The fuel mileage increase should have been noticable pretty quickly. Most customers see an increase of 5-10%, if the vehicle is driven the same as it was before putting the unit on their truck.

Also, keep in mind you have a fuel pump and filtration system that has a lifetime warranty. So in essence, you have spent all the money that you ever will on fuel pumps. Hopefully you will see these benefits soon with your new system, and I hope to hear from you when you do.

Thanks

Ron -

Welcome and thanks for being here for DB!
I have been a very satisfied customer. I had to have my entire fuel system replaced for the second time in 7 months and decided to put an Airdog 150 on to try and help catch the debris before it gets to my injectors. I had been getting contaminated fuel from stations where I live and it didn't really matter which one. The dealership offered to install the Airdog and use the installation cost for the intake pump so I would not be out of pocket any more than before. They still installed a new in-tank pump but just did not hook it up.
Once I got the truck back, it has run the best it ever has. It is definitely alot quieter and I can put the pedal to the floor with the QUAD turned up all the way and get very little smoke and it feels like it has twice the power as before. I am very happy with the product even though I had all the other work done at the same time I feel that this did make a big difference, remember it is my second time this year. The first time it ran better but nothing like this! I hope it can keep everything filtered out now so I don,t have to do it again. -

Please explain how "burning out the carbon deposits" corrects timing in an electronically controlled engine?

I've had my AirDog on for a month and 1K miles (~1/2 of that on the interstate) now and the impressions I wrote of above were based on that mileage, not the first handful of miles after I got it installed. My truck ran pretty well before I put the AirDog on (the ITP reg. ret. kit and Fluidampr worked wonders for smoothing out the engine) but for $529 I expected some change, not the completely same-running truck like I had before. -

Good to hear from another satisfied customer out there. I am glad to hear that you have been satisfied with your unit.

The AirDog system was built to deal with the problem that haunts all diesel engines....air in fuel. There are service bulletins from Caterpillar and Cummins going back 40 years, that talk about the problems air in fuel causes. When you remove the air from the fuel, there are a ton of benefits that come from that, and I am glad to hear that you are reaping the rewards of what the AirDog is able to accomplish.

On another note, I have not been with this company for very long, but one thing that I can tell you is this....Charlie and the guys here at Pure Flow take tremendous pride in their products and their company. I have been pleasantly suprised how much detail is given to customer satisfaction. I have seen Charlie be in the middle of getting an important presentation together fro a large distributor, and stop to take the time to take a technical call!!

I have been in the sales industry for over 20 years, and I have never seen this kind of dedication to customer service.

Thank you for the excellent testimonial Imacumminz!

Sorry if my response made it sound like the process of burning out carbon deposits corrects the timing, that was not my intention. Carbon deposits form from engines that have delayed timing. When you correct the delayed timing, then the deposit which have formed are reduced or eliminated. When I mentioned the carbon deposits, I was referring to your black smoke you were talking about. As the carbon deposits are eliminated and you begin to burn more of the fuel that is sent to the cylinder, you have less wasted fuel. Black smoke as we all know is your roasted unused fuel. Air is compressible, so when there is air in the injectors, timing is delayed, causing wasted/unburned fuel.

I am sorry to hear that you have not experienced the results that you were expecting. It is not often that we get people who are unsatisfied with the performance of their AirDog system.

Thank you,

Ron -
