Default pump identification?

okay so im thinkin about getting this truck and i wanna know what pump #s are good and how to identify them its a 97 with an auto

It should have a 180. Look behind the throttle bracket on the side of the pump and get all of the numbers and post them up.

all 96-98 autos are 180 5spds are 215

Sometimes a 98 auto will have the 215....

Only 1994-1998 trucks have the P7100 Pump
The Control Parts List number or CPL number is located on the engine data plate, which can be found on the drivers side of the timing gear cover. The engine data plate includes such information as the CPL number, engine serial number, and pump timing information.

the cpl is the best way to make sure. We worked on a 94 awhile back thought ok 160 pump. We poppwed the hood and the pump was painted with Cummins Ind Paint. You never know.

What's the real diff between the pump on a 215 a 180 and a 160 that's the real mystery I have a 180 and a 160 everything appears to be the same

the difference is the horse power ratings
