6.9L & 7.3L Bombs (Aftermarket) Discussion of 83-94 6.9 and 7.3 Liter Ford Diesels Related to Performance and Longevity

Default new guy old truck 2

I've just aquired an 87 one ton with a 6.9 auto. I think it only has around 90000 on the trip simpley because the truck is too clean to have more but it could have 190000 just been extreemly well taken care of. The thing is none of my friends know much about these trucks and or the old IDI diesel engines. It's a classy chassies conversion crew cab with the banks turbo. Already has the pyro set up but its not working. What things do i need to look for to fix the pyro and what kind of things can i do to tune it up a little? Also i'm looking to see what i can do about the very low gearing without hurting the towing. Any ideas?

ps: i posted this in the wrong place a few min ago.

The introduction forum is to introduce yourself. All questions need to be posted elsewhere.

On the pyro, trace the wiring. Where the power is ran, probably came loose or the fuse is blown. Also make sure the ground wire is in tact. If all looks good, check the thermocouple and the wiring between it and the gauge.

You can turn the injection pump up a tad by removing the cover on the drivers side of the pump, and turning the screw to the right.
