Default Custom Wastegate Install

well it seems that no one has documented just how they installed their wastegates, so im going to try my best to do a write up to help people searching. as of today i have gotten the location bracket built, the manual regulator hooked into the bracket, and the placement selected. my Tial 38mm WG is in the mail and should be here before the weekend. i will be using both front and rear block off plates so i will be bending a bit of tubing as well. for those that do not have a bender available, there may be a way to 45 the angles, (although i dont think the flow will be as smooth).

here are pictures of the bracketing system and manual regulator as of now.

pulled off the intake horn egr plate, drilled a 25/64 hole and tapped with a 1/4 NPT tap. please ensure you get a NPT tap for the brass fittings!

Bang up job. The only thing I would have changed, would be to turn the 90* fitting on the plate towards the engine that way you don't have that much hose chilling. Other then that I dig it well done.

whargoul,
thank you for yet another incorrect AND useless post... you seem to keep on fitting right into the label you have given yourself here at diesel bombers....

H.R.D - thanks for the props! i got to adjusting that hose line a bit more today and was able to get it turned where it needs to be to cut down on that excess hose... i have built the rest of the setup (minus the dump tube) today. i ended up going with cut and welded 45* angles instead of bent tube due to the fact my bender is 40 or so miles away from my shop at the moment. pictures will be attached in the next post in about 10 or so minutes... thanks for the kind words guys!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ok so as stated above here is the last of the major fabrication that will go into this thing...

ended up going with cut 45* angles and tig welding the assembly back together...

here it is under the hood. a few hoses still need to be re routed to better make this thing all jive together under the hood, but you get the idea for now...

Well thanks for the kind words man. It actually worked out awesome. Im getting her dialed in now and so far she blows off anything above 30 psi of ebp. I want that number around 34-353 if possible. Only issue im running into that I will take pictures of and document as well is the difference between using unmetered boost vs. Unmetwred ebp for the bottom port on the wastegate. I will be hooking it up both ways so I am able to explain to all the different ways each one effects he truck. Back in a few hours with some details...
