Sad Active Air Box

Does any one know anything about the active air box?
I took out the the front flapper/door, so it would only get air from the grill.
about 2000 mi after the mod I started getting a code "Crankcase ventilation system disconnected" the dealer stated that the code is being caused by this mod.

from what I have seen on this box is that it is Dodges version on a cold air intake, with a door that shuts when it detects water/"rain". then it opens a second door that draws air from within the engine compartment.

I have reinstalled the flapper, so we will see in the next few hundred miles.

so what is your opinion or technical knowledge on this??

Did you leave the sensor in the air box with your mod?
Maybe he took his out and that's why he got the code.

yes I left all the sensors in, and I only removed the door from the shaft and left the actuator in. thinking that with everything still in that the cpu would not get confused.

I put the parts back in and so far no codes.
the service manager at the dealer told me when he was at a different dealer, they put an aftermarket air intake on about 10 trucks and they wound up converting back to stock, which cost the dealer lots of $$$

I guess that if we are going to keep our warranty, just going to have to leave it alone.

Wow, they are making it harder to modify our trucks.
To much electronics.

Here's an interesting article from S&B about their new system. The engine management system switches the intake source based on exterior temperature and ambient conditions to bring cooler air into the engine as required. If the front dam is removed then all the rain and road debris that makes it in the grill goes straight into your airbox.
