I have a 08 6.7 cummins and I'm new to owning diesels. Upgrades are exhaust, intake, xtreme race tuner. When i start the truck the turbo just makes a whining sound like an air plane and I can only go like 5 miles per hour if I was to drive it. I tried tuning it back to stock then back to higher tunes as still got nothing. This has happened before but went away now it won't. Any suggestions?

 

check your Exhaust Gas Regulator.... make sure its clean and tighten the bolts as the may come loose. they tend to clog up. you can take them off and clean it but its an easy replace if you need too. youtube has a good video on checking it.

I remember when I bought it something about some deletes too but not sure. I havnt had time to look up and check the egr if its there but I did get home start it and it was fine then in the morning back to making same noise seems like something is sticking and frees up every now and then.

I been working all day everyday so haven't had much time to dig into it but tht would be great if when I get time I could call you. It's Wierd I started it last night and it was fine it went away then morning right back to same **** it's like it sticks and frees up sometimes before it did this and I took the tuner off and it fixed it then put it back on and was fine this time I tried going back to stock and the other tunes and didn't change anything. Could the turbo be going bad? Seems like every time I need the truck something goes wrong but I'm hooked on diesels.

 

Sounds like the turbo is sooted up, and sticking.

Time to either replace it with a fixed vein, or get it cleaned!
